SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS #
Before you get started, let’s make sure you have everything you need to get up and running.
In order to successfully set up the Wireless Outdoor Security Camera, you will need the following:
- The latest generation of the SimpliSafe Base Station and Keypad with the updated firmware (check for firmware updates on your Keypad)
- The SimpliSafe Mobile app
- A screwdriver for mounting on wood or vinyl surfaces
- A 7/64 drill bit for mounting on brick, stucco or tile surfaces
- Compatible USB adapter ( 5V, 7.5W+, 1.5A+, not included)
- Note: the Outdoor Camera’s optimal temperature threshold is -4°F to 122°F

BATTERY
#
The first step to getting your camera up and running is charging the included battery. To do this, insert the charging cable into the battery and plug the USB end into a 5V, 7.5W or 1.5A+ power adapter (not included). You will know your battery is charging when you see the LED lights flashing. Please allow your camera to charge for about five hours for maximum battery life. Three LED lights will be solidly lit when it’s fully charged.
Once the battery is charged, insert it into the camera by twisting off the camera’s lens and sliding the battery into place. Be sure that the black tab is facing out and that the three copper circles on the battery face the matching prongs inside the battery slot.
Listen for a chime from the camera, and a flashing light, to know that your battery is inserted correctly.
IN-APP SETUP #
New Customers should download the SimpliSafe app to get started setting up their camera. Be sure that your Base Station and Keypad are also set up and connected to WiFi. For the best results, set up the camera within close range to the Base Station and your WiFi router. Once you are ready to go, follow these steps to get your camera up and running.
- Download the SimpliSafe app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Sign in to your SimpliSafe account.
- Follow the steps to set up your Base Station and Keypad if you haven’t already done so.
- Navigate to the “Cameras” screen using the icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Select “Set up a Camera.”
- Select the “Outdoor Cam” icon.
- Verify the property at which you will set up the camera.
- Verify that your battery is fully charged and follow the instructions on the screen to insert the battery into the camera.
- Press the setup button on the camera. You will hear “camera added” when it successfully pairs with your Base Station.
- Choose a name for your camera. You can select a popular name or create your own custom name.
- Your camera is now synced to the Base Station.
- Continue to the mounting instructions.
Existing Customers should navigate to the SimpliSafe app on their smartphone. Follow these instructions to add your new camera to your system.
Please note, the latest generation of the SimpliSafe system is required for the Outdoor Camera to function.*
- Open the SimpliSafe app, navigate to the menu ≡ and select “Set up Camera.”
- Select the “Outdoor Cam” icon.
- Verify the property at which you will set up the camera.
- Verify that your battery is fully charged and follow the instructions on the screen to insert the battery into the camera.
- Press the setup button on the camera. You will hear “camera added” when it successfully pairs with the base station.
- Choose a name for your camera. You can select a popular name or create your own custom name.
- Your camera is now synced to the Base Station.
- Continue to the mounting instructions (below).
OUTDOOR SETUP AND MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS #
Now that your camera is connected to the Base Station, bring the camera outside to test the streaming quality and view the live feed through the app. Be sure to check out the placement tips below before mounting your camera!
To install your camera, reference the Quick Start Guide included in the packaging, or follow these instructions to secure the magnetic mount and attach the camera:
- Twist off the mounting plate from the bottom of the magnetic dome
- Screw the mounting plate to your desired location
- For brick, stucco or tile walls, drill two holes into the wall using a 7/64″ drill bit. Insert the wall anchors into the holes. Then, twist off the cap on the bottom of the dome and use a handheld screwdriver to screw the cap into the anchor.
- For wood or vinyl walls, use the self-tapping screws directly into the wall.
- Twist the magnetic dome back onto the mounted plate
- Attached the camera to the magnetic dome (see below)
TIPS FOR THE BEST PRODUCT PLACEMENT #
Follow these tips when mounting your camera for the most effective performance:
- Place the camera 6 – 8 feet above the ground
- Be sure there are not obstructions in front of the camera, such as large tree branches
- Point the camera at a slight downward 30 degree angle towards entry/exit points into your property
- Check the app when you are installing the camera to make sure you are happy with the viewpoint
- Configure Activity Zones in settings to avoid capturing unnecessary high traffic areas, like busy sidewalks, to preserve battery life and prevent false alarms and notifications.
RELOCATING THE CAMERA #
To relocate your camera after installation, simply remove the screws from the mount and follow the steps above to reinstall the camera. The camera will continue to connect to the same WiFi network. Be sure the camera is in range of the Base Station and your WiFi router for it to continue to function properly.
